About Us

Tell us more about Jules.

Jules helps you understand your carbon footprint by connecting to your bank accounts and evaluating your purchase history. Based on your carbon footprint, we recommend you a monthly subscription with one of our verified offset projects.

What is your mission?

Our mission is to enable climate action for everyone. We believe that channeling the power of collective consumer power can spark meaningful change in the fight against climate change.

Who is behind Jules?

We are a diverse team distributed over three different countries(US, Mexico and Argentina). Our founding team is passionate about the idea of enabling consumers to user their financial power to advocate for issues they care about.

How does Jules make money?

Our business model is simple and transparent. We use 15.8% of each carbon offset to cover costs associated with our carbon offsets and payment processor providers while 4.2% goes to cover our product development and operation costs. This means that 80% of your payment will go directly to the carbon offset project.

Carbon Calculation

How do you get my purchase history?

We use Plaid’s proprietary technology(used by startups like Robinhood and Venmo) to connect to your bank accounts and pull your purchase history over a 12 month period.

How do you calculate my emissions?

We work with partners who follow the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, a renowned carbon accounting protocol trusted by some of the largest companies and NGOs in the world in order to calculate your emissions.

Carbon Offset

What is a carbon offset?

A carbon offset is the reduction or removal of emissions of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases made in order to compensate for emissions made elsewhere. This is usually done with carbon removal or negative emission technologies.

How do you choose your projects?

We have partnered with Patch which reviews data from a number of sources to ensure every project in our partner network meets their rigorous quality requirements. These sources include verification standards such as American Carbon Registry, Gold Standard, and Climate Action Reserve, as well as registry systems, proof of fulfillment, work logs, and third-party reports and assessments.

Does my entire donation go to the project?

Our business model is simple and transparent. We use 15.8% of each carbon offset to cover costs associated with our carbon offsets and payment processor providers while 4.2% goes to cover our product development and operation costs. This means that 80% of your payment will go directly to the carbon offset project.

Why focus on carbon offsets?

Climate change requires all tools at our disposal. From reduction strategies to offsetting, every one has a role to play. We believe that carbon offsetting provides the most immediate solution for individuals looking to engage in climate action.
